This gate latch is lockable and will not freeze. The u-shaped hook on a chain gives some flexibility and closes easily with an added folding ring to secure the latch in case of fidgety horses. Pound the u shaped nail into the wall so that enough room is left to drop the hook onto. These are very difficult for horses to escape from.
