The handle has a protective steel collar below the axe head and circular grooves towards the end for an extra firm grip. There are two models available. Model 441 is a small splitting axe that can be used for medium-sized firewood. It weighs 3.5 pounds and length with handle is 23 inches. Model 442 is a large splitting axe that can be used for splitting all types of firewood. It weighs 5 pounds and length with handle is 27.5 inches. Both model axes are forged and ground to a concave thin blade at the bit. Sheath is made of vegetable-tanned leather.
