An aluminum base with engraved depth scales is durable yet lightweight so as to not tire the user during prolonged use. At just 4.6lbs with a battery attached it is very lightweight and combined with the rubber grip it is very simple to maneuver to give you the precise cuts you expect from a pro-level tool.
